I challenged my parents that I could take a "worldly" person who knew nothing about the bible and probably talk them in to not having a bible study. I asked them how they could possibly expect a "bible study" to argue my points if even they couldn't and they are supposed to have more knowledge then the bible student. They couldn't answer me. It's a one sided game that JW's will win 9 out of 10 times. Another point is that JW's will run away when a real debate comes.

Hypothetical Question
by purplesofa ini don't pretend to know why the bible has the law about homosexuality being immoral.....the only reason logically is for having babies.. so my question is.. there are two gay couples left on the planet.
will those couples go against their sexual preference to keep humankind from going extinct?.

Most gay men and women explore heterosexuality at some point or another. I can't imagine anyone willing to extinct man kind over something as silly as sex. Now the fun part would be a gay man with a gay women...let the hilarity ensue!

cong book study week starting
by ush419 innaturally the book brings out that it was christendom that roused the authorities up against the society and had them wrongly incarcerated (after a wrongful trial of course) on false charges of sedition.
can anyone give me some info to use that can be documented of course so that i can refute this nonsense at the book study.
i have seen stuff in the past when lurking but have had to replace a lot of stuff on the computer because of problems on it.

The real point is that RUTHERFORD AND HIS CRONIES TRIED TO STOP THE PRINTING OF THE FINISHED MYSTERY AND CHANGED WHAT IT SAID!! It was only AFTER the government further pursued the matter that Rutherford started spouting out this crap. He was more then happy to take away and hide his bold words.

I too like the letter. One thing I tried to explain to my Mom who was not raised a witness; when she found out her religion was wrong NOTHING could dissuade her from following the path to finding herself. So how could she expect me to give in for one second when I have found out everything I was taught was wrong? I think that's something that has to be stressed. I am still stuck on getting the JW to think of you in human terms. This is much easier for parents but it seems to work with non relatives too.

Do I owe my life to the org?
by Serg inthe only reason i'm here and i exist is because of the jw org., my parents met in a hall.
is this your situation?.
if it weren't for that missionary couple out in dominican republic in the 50's that called on my grandma and if it weren't for the brother in the early 70's who called on my dad, my parents would have never met and i wouldn't be sitting here writing this post.. i just realized all of these years i thought i owed my life to god and his organization what i actually owed my life to was an organization that claimed to be god's channel.

I owe my life to my parents, but it's definitely a situation where if it weren't for the JW's my parents would not have met. It was just a small part of larger coincidences. My take on it, is that it can't be undone, while I am thankful for my parents meeting each other that is it. I owe no more to the JW org then a child born from a random hook up at a bar one drunken night. Know what I mean?
